The Strandloper Ocean is tucked away in the quaint fishing village of Paternoster, which lies along South Africa’s unspoiled West Coast, approximately 145km from Cape Town.
Surrounded by the area’s unique flora and fauna – where lynx, small antelope and beautiful birds can be spotted – and the clean fresh waters of the Atlantic ocean, there is a unmistakable healing energy in the air. While the charming landscape calls you to kick off your shoes, soak up the natural beauty and do nothing at all; this is also a coastal playground offering more active pursuits like swimming, kite surfing, horse riding or simply long walks along the shore. Go crayfishing with the locals and watch the fishermen haul in their catch of the day, set off on a kayak in search of penguins, dolphins and seals or visit one of the many top restaurants in the vicinity for an unforgettable gourmet experience.
The area offers something special for all seasons. A visit during the summer months offers coastal living at its best. Come between the months of August and October and you’ll experience the world-renowned flower season, during which the landscape explodes in colour. Or come and discover an insider’s best-kept secret – the clear sunny skies and crisp fresh air of the winter months.
